Brentford FC: ambitious Championship club from London

Brentford FC is an English football club from London, founded in 1889. Since 1904, the club has played all its home matches in Griffin Park, located in Brentford, West London. Over the last century, Brentford FC have played in many divisions, from the Second Division to the Premier League. Their best result goes all the way back to the 1935-36 season, when they were promoted to the highest level of English football. That same season, The Bees finished 5th place, their all-time-highest position. Since 2014, Brentford FC have been playing in the Championship again.

For a genuine old-time football experience, Brentford is the place to be. Griffin Park is a great stadium. It has a capacity of 12,573 and it is the only stadium in England that has its own pubs. Drinking a beer at one of these pubs before or after the match is an amazing experience. The pubs are located at each corner of the stadium and are called the Griffin, The Princess Royal, The New Inn and The Brook.

Brentford isn’t a typical top tier football club, but despite of that the club is building a beautiful new stadium. And not just a stadium, they are creating a whole new community. Located less than 8 miles from Heathrow to the west and Waterloo station to the east, the new stadium of Brentford FC will be located in the heart of West London. Construction of the new home of The Bees is on track and the stadium will be finished in time for the start of the 2020/21 season.

The stadium is situated less than a mile away from Brentford’s current home Griffin Park. The new stadium is called the Brentford Community Stadium: it is built with the purpose to regenerate the area around it, creating 910 new homes. The stadium will have a capacity of 17,250.

“I am absolutely confident that the unique nature of the site will result in a stadium that is still different to the majority of new stadiums, is small enough to create a fantastic atmosphere yet big enough to enable the continued growth of our supporter base and offers a brilliant matchday experience for all fans.”

– Matthew Benham, owner of Brentford FC.
