Football in the time of corona

La Liga, Serie A and Premier League have restarted – Bayern Munich wins league title once again

So far, it has been a turbulent football season for everyone, but especially for Bayern Munich. In the beginning of the season, Der Rekordmeister suffered several losses, which led to the resignation of Nico Kovač. Hansi Flick took over until the winter stop, but was then allowed to stay – and it resulted in yet another league title for Bayern Munich. After the two-month break due to corona, Bayern Munich didn’t lose a single match, and with two more games to play they have won the Bundesliga title for the eighth time in a row, leaving Borussia Dortmund behind them once again.

Spain, Italy and England

Last weekend, the Spanish competition was resumed as well. With a virtual audience it almost looked like it used to – almost. In order to be able to finish the competition mid-July, they play no less than two to three matches each week.

The Premier League will also restart again today. The last football match in England was played more than three months ago, March 9th. Tonight the competition will restart with the match between Aston Villa - Sheffield United (19.00 hours) and Manchester City - Arsenal (21.15 hours).

In Italy, the last match was also played on March 9th. The country – which was affected by the coronavirus most – will start playing football in the Serie A again this weekend. Torino will kick-off against Parma on Saturday.
