The summer transfers of 2022

European top clubs were running around like crazy last transfer window. Corona is past us, so clubs dare to invest again. Players were bought and millions were fleeing around. Now peace has returned, and it’s time to create a balance. Which summer transfers are worth a football trip? Discover this in our new blog and book your football trip!

1. Erling Haaland to Manchester City

The results of the 21-year-old Norwegian made it clear he was ready for top football, but it remained uncertain at which club he would eventually end up. Haaland himself decided to go to Pep Guardiola’s club in the end. Despite of Haaland being worth 150 to 200 million euros, he was bought for only 60 million by Manchester City. The recently deceased Mino Raoila wrote a transfer clause in the contract of the striker when Haaland signed his contract at Dortmund.

The tall goal-scorer has proven himself worthy with having scored 14 goals in eight Premier League matches. He already set a record because of this. Erling Haaland is therefore the best transfer made last summer. You can be certain of seeing Haaland score when visiting Manchester City. A top footballer who just started his career. That’s promising!

2. Robert Lewandowski to FC Barcelona

If you think about goals, you’ll think about Robert Lewandowski, who is called Lewangoalski more often. The Pole has been showing that scoring goals is as easy as breathing for years now. He scored 41 goals in the season of 2020/21 when he was still active in the Bundesliga. Last year he scored 35. Unusual numbers football fans love. The 34-year-old striker is getting older, but nobody thinks his skills will be affected by this.

FC Barcelona can proudly say Lewandowski joined their club. He was transferred from Bayern for 45 million euros. ‘Lewa’ already scored nine goals and made two assists after only seven competitions. In other words: the phenomenon keeps on doing what he’s good at: scoring goals. Barcelona supporters and neutral football lovers absolutely should visit Camp Nou now the Pole is playing for the club.

3. Antony to Manchester United

The transfer of Antony to Manchester United is without a doubt the most bizarre transfer of the past year. Not because of the transfer itself, but because of the extremely high amount of money Man United was willing to spend on the young Brazilian. After a long negotiation, The Red Devils paid 100 million euros. Manchester took a great risk by doing this. Will this immense purchase be worth it after the Maguire tragedy?

It does seem to be worth it, so far. Antony found the football goal immediately during his debut. The question is whether he can keep this up. When booking a football trip to Man United, you won’t only watch Antony play, but also Cristiano Ronaldo.

4. Paulo Dybala to AS Roma

An elegant footballer with a breath-taking technique: that’s what Paulo Dybala’s known for. Even though he wasn’t a solid player at Juventus, he was the audience’s favourite. Something just happens when the little Argentinian walks upon the field. The footballer has finally chosen to switch football clubs to play more football. Many supporters will be happy with his decision!

Mourinho’s AS Roma is Dybala’s new club. He scored four goals and made two assists in seven matches. A trip to Rome to see Dybala and other great players is a fantastic idea!

5. Darwin Núñez to Liverpool

Darwin is known as the national football star in Uruguay. He broke through at Benfica last season. He scored 26 goals in 28 matches and he made four assists. He also impressed everyone by scoring six goals in ten Champions League matches. Enough reasons for top clubs to be wanting Núñez.

Liverpool won this battle. They bought the 23-year-old striker for 75 million euros. Darwin still has to get used to the strong competition, but they expect that he will soon and that he’ll start scoring goals again. A football trip to Liverpool is a great idea anyway, but the trip gets even better when the football player from Uruguay plays here.

6. Sadio Mané to Bayern

Mané and Liverpool seemed to be inseparable. However, the sympathetic Senegalese chose for a new adventure at Bayern Munich despite of this. The Germans paid 32 million euros for the 30-year-old forward. Mané’s average of scored goals stood at 15 and the average of made assists stood at five a year for the past five years. A great average that got noticed by Bayern.

Sadio Mané is Bayern’s striker now. A position that had to be filled after Lewandowski’s departure. Mané scored four goals in eight matches so far. Not very impressive yet, but fireworks will arise the moment he's used to the club.

7. Romelu Lukaku back to Internazionale

The Belgian beast moved to Chelsea after two successful seasons at Inter. He only scored eight goals in 26 matches. That’s far below his level, since he scored around 23 or 24 goals a year at Inter. This was partly the reason why his career didn't last long in London. He wanted to return to Italy pretty quickly.

Internazionale heard him and picked him up transfer-free. Lukaku is feeling comfortable again in Italy, and he scored once and made an assist in three matches. He’ll be Inter’s top scorer within no time. It’s a true experience to see the tall and strong striker in real live.
